Good Morning—

While Bernie and AOC packed L.A. with a message of solidarity, Trump’s campaign continues pushing mass deportations, revoking protections for Afghans and Cameroonians, and winking at war crimes with his “you have to put up or shut up” diplomacy on Ukraine—hours before a Russian missile killed over 30 civilians.

Meanwhile, the GOP is busy trying to erase votes in North Carolina, ignore pronouns in the White House press room, and apparently—according to one judge—deport college students over paperwork. Pete Hegseth is being called a “dumb effing individual” by House Democrats, and Trump’s inner circle is split between Elon Musk’s contrarian cosplay and ICE dragging people from their desks like it’s a dystopian TikTok trend.

On the tariff front, one CEO just called it “the end of days.”

But hey, the bees are disappearing again. So at least the ecosystem and democracy are crumbling together—symmetry matters.

Stay informed, stay engaged. đŸ’Ş

This Day in History:

On April 13, 1861, Fort Sumter surrendered to Confederate forces after a 34-hour bombardment, marking the official start of the American Civil War. In 1870, the Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded in New York City, destined to become one of the most iconic and comprehensive art museums in the world. On April 13, 1964, Sidney Poitier made history as the first Black actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, honored for his role in Lilies of the Field. During the Apollo 13 mission in 1970, an oxygen tank explosion forced NASA to abort the lunar landing, sparking a tense but ultimately successful mission to bring the crew home. And in 1997, Tiger Woods won the Masters Tournament, becoming the youngest champion at age 21 and the first golfer of African heritage to claim a major title—redefining the sport’s history in the process.
