Indiana Women's Action Movement (25 Women for 2020)

In 2019, 25 Women for 2020 was created to help elect more formidable Democratic women to the Indiana Legislature in 2020.  

We supported 29 progressive women on the ballot for Indiana House and Senate seats in the November 2020 election. Together these women developed outstanding campaigns and lifted each other up.  Most had never run for office before and became seasoned, organized, powerful candidates. They agreed on important policies that would help Indiana families and children, public education, access to health care, equity, unions, environmental protection, and more. 

Two women won their races. But, most did not succeed against well-funded Republican incumbents.  However, they and we remain undaunted in our mission to make Indiana a more fair, just, and prosperous state.  Some are already committing to run for the State Legislature or another public office in 2022.  Some are finding other ways to address the activities of the current legislature that ignore public school needs, Climate Change, Criminal Justice reform, and women's equality.  All are staying engaged and committed to their communities, the people they want to represent and help.  

In this non-election year, we are working to re-invigorate the Democratic party.  Some 25 Women For 2020 candidates have taken leadership positions in the Democratic party to help organize the party for future elections. 

One of the many lessons we learned during 2020 was that Indiana is an information desert in terms of Democratic politics. We are filling the void with a podcast, Electable with Deb Chubb. You can find it on  Spotify,itunes, and Stitcher.  The podcast seeks help women newly engaged in politics and others learn more about how to build and support high expectations for the Democratic party. We bring the wisdom of state-wide Democratic leadership, legislators, and others with knowledge of issues facing Hoosiers to our strong, state-wide social media following.  

We are staying the course. Change will not happen overnight.  We will continue to diligently work to improve the organization and success of the Indiana Democratic party, to support incumbent Democrats, and engage the public in the legislative process.  Please support our efforts.
