Scott Huffman (D) for U.S. Congress

I am a husband, father, small business owner, community leader, and Navy veteran. My wife,  Karen is a NC visual impairment teacher and together we have three wonderfully supportive children: Wyleigh, Blake and Jeffrey .

My motivation to step up and speak out became apparent when my daughter at 10 years old became worried about her friends in school after the 2016 election.  I told her everything would be OK.  I just didn't think four years later, I would be running for Congress.  

I became a community leader.  I founded a Indivisible chapter. I served on the Mecklenburg County Democratic Board of Directors.  Through my community activist work, I along with my neighbors rallied our community to participate and speak out about the polices and direction of our nation. Along with fellow supporters we held town halls, raised billboards, and engaged our members of Congress.

Why am I Running?

I'm not running to be that Politician who ends up staying in Washington D.C. and living that lifestyle they claim to oppose.  I'm running to be that Public Servant that our district desperately needs serving those who are ignored.  Because, I just don't believe that people with a net worth of millions, like my Republican opponent understand people with a net worth of living pay check, to paycheck.  I understand living paycheck, to paycheck.  I'm one of three children to a single mother who worked as a waitress earning tips.

If elected to serve.  I will work on the issues that deeply affect our district and work to bring our neighbors together to strengthen our communities, educate our children and focus on 21st century jobs. I will work to strengthen our healthcare system.  Work for social and economic justice that includes everyone in our district.  Not one spectrum of our political ideology.
