In the midst of this uncertainty, Black women must continue to run for office and there are simply not enough PACs that are focused on investing in Black women candidates. We invest in Black women because we do not get the big donors, but can win with increased amplification, connection, and encouragement — think school board, county commission, state executive committee women, judges, tax assessor, sheriff, alderman, and general clerks to name a few. When we say early support, we mean once a woman’s name is printed on the ballot. We know how much a small investment early becomes the difference-maker when trying to demonstrate viability.
Investing in and supporting Black women candidates running for local office is key to building the bench to have candidates ready to run for state and federal office.
