Yonnee Fortson has been a resident of Jennings, Missouri since 1993. She's served as a councilwoman in the city of Jennings from 2015-2017. She also served as a commissioner on the Planning Commission board in the city of Jennings in 2018 as well as ran for Director of the Jennings School Board in 2018. She was also a candidate for Mayor for the city of Jennings in 2019 as well as a candidate for Missouri State Representative in the 74th district in 2020, losing by 128 votes.
Yonnee has been an educator for St. Louis Public School since 2008. She spent some of her time volunteering with Better Family Life, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis as well as volunteering within the community with cleanups and food distributions. She is a mother of two wonderful sons and she is very active in my church serving as the Vice President of both the choir and usher board ministries, a member of the praise team as well as a new member our of church's executive board as of November 2020. She is also a new member of the NAACP, St. Louis County Chapter as of November 2020.
