Awkward punk-rock activist mom pursues city council seat

Hi! I’m Kati Medford, and I’m running for Minneapolis City Council, representing Ward 13. I’ve been a resident of Fulton since 2018, and of Minneapolis in general for over a decade. I’m a parent and entrepreneur, and I run a mutual-aid thrift store in Uptown.

As a Green Party candidate my top priorities will be community safety, environmental justice, and income inequality, affordable housing, rent control, and mutual aid.

It would be incredibly misguided for a person to show up and just start “helping” without asking what is needed, which is how it often feels to hear about City Council these days. You can count on me to ask what you need, and then to listen. I will show up every day, not to further my own agenda, but to make Minneapolis life safer, cleaner, more efficient, more affordable, and more equitable not just for you, but for everyone who calls this great city home.

I never forget that a contribution from you is a vote of confidence in me. Your donations will help our "Little Team that Could" to reach the residents of Ward 13 by showing them first-hand how mutual aid works, and by facilitating public discussions with all of you about how we can truly turn things around in our city. Contributions will go towards printing signs, flyers, business cards, paying for website upkeep, social media advertising, and paying local artists to grace our campaign with their creations.
