Greetings!!

I am Monica Roebuck, a candidate for delegate in District 23A in Maryland.  I am a teacher and a leader in my community.  I am working to improve education, help to protect our voting rights and improve other issues affecting our community.  

I grew up in Maryland with my parents and attended public schools.  I graduated from Howard University and Bowie State University.  I  understand the value of a great eduction and want to fight to make sure that every student has access to the best schools. I have been a teacher in Prince George's County Schols for 22 years.  I am an eduleader where I serve as a mentor and team leader.  As a teacher I have witnessed students suffer because of class sizes and old buildings that don't have air or heat.  This is unacceptable and our students deserve better.  My goal is to make sure our schools are fully funded so that we have the materials and necessary resources.  I want to also improve services for special education students.  My school district has a high number of special education students.   

I served for two years on the Board of Elections in Prince George's County.  This experience allowed me to see the voting and canvassing process.  I am qualified to train others to register voters.  I regularly register voters and get out in the community to educate others about the voting process.  Our voting right are under attack and I want to make sure we can expand vote by mail and early voting. Voting should be easy and accessible to everyone. 

My goals is to make  sure we have affordable housing for every age group.  So many seniors and students out of school struggle with paying their mortgage and finding a place.  This should not be.  Everyone deserve to have a place to call home.  I want to make sure that our returning citizens have programs to help transition them back into society.  They will need workforce development.  We need to reform the criminal just system and make sure its fair.  We have to make sure arrests, and sentencing are fair and end racial profiling. I believe it's time to legalize marijuana.  By doing that we open up economic opportunities.  We also need to expunge records for non-violent offenders.

I want to fight for quality health care for all.  We need to make sure that mothers have the important healthcare during their pregnancy.  I want to make sure we have comprehensive healthcare from cradle to grave.
