In a time where the attacks on public education, pensioners, voting rights, healthcare, seniors, and labor issues have been prevalent, we must remain diligent in our efforts to change the dynamic in government. Whether you are a teacher, public servant, factory worker, restaurant employee, or unemployed, you deserve a strong voice in county government, a person who understands and will represent your interests and concerns. From my many personal and professional experiences, I know the issues that my many residents face daily. Therefore, I am writing to ask for your support for my Brian Banks for Commissioner District 1 Campaign.
Having been born and raised in a union household, I learned the importance of working hard and community service. My grandfather was and many family members are proud members of the UAW, my mother is a retiree of SEIU Healthcare, and I was a proud member of CWA Local 4004. As an educator, I know first-hand the importance of having a quality education for all our children. With both a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Wayne State University, a Juris Doctor from MSU College of Law, and a Ph.D. from Walden University. Education has been a prime tool in shaping my growth and making me the person I am today. As a former legislator and chair of the Detroit Caucus, I have been and will remain fully committed to making sure your voice is heard, as we need strong voices in government. I realize that addressing the issues our county is faced with, requires my presence on the front line every day and every day that a vote is cast, and every day that a constituent calls.
