My name is Miriam Mboya, a current Public Servant with the King County Local Government. I have been a Social Justice and Political activist for the past 11 years both in Washington D.C and Washington State. As an activist, I have served as an advocate with the United States Senate and Congress to transform the systems that impact children and families in the child welfare system. I have also advocated for the maintenance and increase of State need Grants and College Bound scholarships to ensure our youth have access to higher education and have fought to transform the Foster Care System and end Youth Homelessness here in Washington State.
I am a long-time resident of King County District 2, both growing up in the area and completing my education at Seattle University. My educational backgrounds include a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Communication. As a resident of King County, I have had enough of elected Leaders that cannot identify with the very issues plaguing our community. That's why I am running for the King County Council District 2 Seat to assure that the future and the present of our community is in our hands. These individuals are far removed from what you and I experience daily and that’s why I am running to represent our community to expedite solutions for the issues we are currently facing that need dire attention.
I believe it is time we elect Servant Leaders in our Public Offices to make sure that our voices are heard and not drowned in the Career Politician's objectives and greed for power through their attempts to maintain the Status Quo. We need a real tangible change in our community.
