Concerned Mom, Laura Fangel, runs for School Board

I'm Laura Fangel, a proud parent with a deep commitment to ensuring every child at Lakeville Public Schools receives the exceptional education they deserve. That's why I'm honored to announce my candidacy for the Lakeville Area Schools - ISD 194 School Board.

Education is more than just learning—it's about unlocking potential and creating pathways to success. Having grown up benefiting from Minnesota's strong public school system I am passionate about ensuring that every child is given that same opportunity. 

Since moving to Lakeville, I have witnessed firsthand some of what makes Lakeville Area Schools exceptional - caring and dedicated educators, robust extracurricular programming, and a diverse community united in supporting our children.

However, recent years have tested our district. The aftermath of COVID-19, coupled with budget cuts and leadership struggles, have left our educational system vulnerable. We're losing talented educators and struggling to meet the needs of our students. We can't afford to settle for anything less than excellence. Our future quite literally depends on it.

As a parent deeply involved in my children’s school life, serving in leadership roles within the PTO and on various district committees, I've seen the gaps firsthand. From basic resources to complex social-emotional needs, I'm frustrated by the lack of accountability and vision from our current board.

When elected, my mission is clear:

• Collaborate closely with educators, families, and students to advocate for budgets that prioritize their needs.

• Foster a safe and inclusive environment where every student and staff member can thrive.

• Build a visionary leadership team committed to sustaining and enhancing what makes Lakeville Area Schools exceptional.

• Restore trust through transparent, authentic communication with our community.
