Hi, my name is Jason Roberts and I am running for re-election to the District 5 seat of Vacaville City Council. I am a 18 - year Army veteran with two combat deployments to Afghanistan, and still serve in the California National Guard. Upon leaving active duty at the end of 2009 I decided to make my home in the now district 5 of Vacaville, attended Solano Community College then went on to earn two Bachelor’s degrees from UC Davis. Currently I work with Yolo County as the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and volunteer with Team Rubicon (a disaster response nonprofit), helping communities in need prepare for and respond to disasters both domestically and internationally. Helping families and communities recover from some of the worst days of their lives reinforced the importance of service and inspired me to run for office to further help my own community.
This year our community has faced and will continue to face significant economic and social struggles. Now, we need proven and dedicated leadership that doesn't shy away from adversity to help lead a fiscally smart and innovative recovery to ensure a strong future for Vacaville. We can help local businesses flourish by providing timely and cost effective services and resources, encouraging the community utilize local business. We need to promote a community-based workforce and economic development programs in order to establish livelihoods not reliant on commuting . Establish services to bridge the gap between the school district and city services, so parents do not need to worry about safety and support while trying to provide for their families. work with developers to provide the housing and community benefits our city needs. Lastly, it is also be important to build Vacaville's amenities up such as our parks and athletic facilities to improve our quality of life and attract visitors to shop and help improve our local economy.
As a Vacaville City Council member my leadership experience has brought clear communication with the community, instilled accountability, built strong community relationships, cultivated equality, and improved safety for all. People matter and I will be a no-nonsense voice for everyone, not special interests.
Accomplishments:
- Net Zero Energy - Saves over $26 Million over the next 20 years
- Reduced Unfunded Liabilities
- Affordable Housing (including 2x senior housing)
- Updated Existing and Building a New Park
- Brought New Art and Music into the City
- Assisted Businesses and Nonprofits
In order to remain on City Council and continue to bring a fresh voice and ideas to this City’s leadership I need to get my name out to the people of District 5 so they understand who their options are. Unfortunately, I cannot do this on my own, I need your help both financially and with volunteers. So, my ask to you is to invest in Vacaville’s future by donating to my campaign, everything helps and is greatly appreciated even if it's only a dollar. These funds will go towards yard signs, flyers, as well as various other supplies to take care of the volunteers that come help with the campaign. I will promise to spend these funds as locally as possible to invest in our community's families.
