I am thrilled to announce that Jesse LaShawn Parris is running for Colorado State House Representative for House District 8 in the upcoming election on November 5, 2024.
Background in Politics: Jesse LaShawn Parris is a Northeast Denver resident of over 20 years and a 3rd Generation Denverite. He has previously run for Mayor and City Council At Large, demonstrating his commitment to public service and the betterment of our community.
Unity Party Involvement: Currently serving as the Jr. Chairman for the Unity Party in Colorado, Jesse is proud to announce that Cornel West has been nominated for President under the Unity Party, providing Coloradans with a third option at the polls. During the Unity Party convention, Jesse retained the nomination for House District 8, representing the true needs of the people rather than the programmed talking points of the dominant Democratic process.
Previous Mayoral Run and Loss: In the mayoral race, Jesse faced a devastating loss that he and his family have grieved deeply. Despite the challenges and setbacks, Jesse has remained resilient and committed to serving the community. He has learned from his past experiences and is determined to avoid the powerful chess moves that have hindered his previous campaigns.
Vision for House District 8: Jesse is pleased to represent a strong and confident leadership voice that this district has been lacking for years. He is committed to effecting redress and correcting the changes that previous seat holders have enacted on the district. Jesse believes that the state of the district speaks for itself, and he is eager to bring about positive change.
Why Jesse LaShawn Parris?
Jesse is the exact individual that House District 8 represents. He is a strong leader who is ready to tackle the challenges facing the district and ensure that the true needs of the people are addressed. He advocates for policies that protect Black people from acts of terrorism and racism, aiming to create policies that benefit and ensure transparency and accountability in legislative language.
Black Political Opposition: Black leaders and activists within the small communities of Park Hill, 5 Points, and East Denver are often torn on supporting new leadership. Older, very opinionated gatekeepers use their influence to sway the comfortable majority towards giving Lindsay Gilcrest the seat. Sadly, faith in the race's capabilities has led to a comfortable atmosphere of "blue no matter who," overshadowing the need for real change.
A Call for Change: The political climate demands a passionate defender and leader willing to fight against the status quo. Jesse Parris believes in asking tough questions and standing up for the most vulnerable in District 8. Major concerns in the district need addressing, and Jesse is ready to challenge the incumbent's policies and push for significant reforms. The race is not over yet, and Jesse Parris will give a run for the seat.
I invite you to join us in supporting Jesse LaShawn Parris for Colorado State House Representative for House District 8.
