Jumpstart the Voters First Presidential Debate Coalition for the 2024 Election!

Open The Debates and the Free & Equal Elections Foundation are working to form a People’s Presidential Debate Coalition to present a series of debates that truly serve We the People in 2024. 

After prototyping three inspiring, inclusive, and constructive presidential debates for the 2020 election, Open the Debates, in partnership with the Free & Equal Elections Foundation, is working to form a powerful coalition of nonpartisan political reform organizations to challenge the Commission on Presidential Debates and advance presidential debates that truly serve the American electorate.

We aim to bring together vital voices for free and fair elections to build a collaborative and participatory platform for political debates that is responsive and accountable to the American people. 

Two huge lessons from 2020 to maximize the impact of our political intervention were that we need to a) secure early financial support and b) build a coalition of public interest organizations ready to work together to transform presidential debates.
