My name is Liz Kosta, and I am running to represent the towns of Plaistow, Newton, and SouthHampton in New Hampshire House District 20. I have lived in Plaistow with my husband and three amazing daughters for 21 years.
I’m running for State Representative because I love our communities and our State. The values of my parents inspire me - my mother was a devoted teacher and my father was a proud postal worker. Like my mother, I pursued a career in education, earning a master’s degree while working full-time and raising my children. I am privileged now to serve children ages birth through three as a developmental therapist in early intervention. My life experiences have taught me so much about the power of collaboration and community connections.
I am currently honored to serve the Town of Plaistow as a Selectboard member and the Timberlane Regional School District as their Chair of teh Budget Committee. I am also honored to have served on the Timberlane Regional School Board from 2005 to 2013 - serving 2 years as chair. I also served on four of the Board’s working committees for Curriculum (chair), Personnel (chair), Strategic Planning and Policy. Lastly, I have served on Plaistow’s Budget Committee.
With your help, as a state legislator, I will continue to work hard with constituents of all viewpoints to find effective solutions to issues. Here are just a few of my priorities:
- I deeply value education. Schools are the heart of our communities and deserve our support. They need to be safe places for our children to learn, build relationships, and develop the skills to enter adulthood as competent, confident citizens. I will advocate for expanding opportunities for students to explore vocational, as well as post-secondary, options, so all of our youth can build sustainable futures here in New Hampshire.
- I strongly support families. Accessible childcare, affordable health care, paid family leave, a livable minimum wage, and a healthy environment all affect the lives of so many families here in Southeastern New Hampshire. I will advocate for all families, including those who struggle with addiction issues, mental health challenges, and homelessness.
- I trust individuals to make their own reproductive health decisions. The government should not interfere in these deeply private issues between a woman and her doctor.
I would be honored to learn more about what is on your mind, and what issues are important to you, your loved ones, your friends, and your neighbors. You can always reach me via email at kosta4nh@gmail.com and visit my website at kostafornh.com for more information.
Please help me meet your expectations and priorities as we head into the fall elections. I look forward to hearing from you – to listen and learn - and also to work for you in Concord.
I gratefully welcome, and appreciate, your support,
Liz
