David Williams for Comal County Sheriff-Democrat

My name is David Williams. I am originally from El Paso, TX. I am a husband and father of two children who attend public school. As a law enforcement officer, I’ve served for nearly a decade in the great state of Texas. I have a long range of experience, from working in jail, to patrolling the streets of Bexar County and Comal County. I've also had the privilege of working in agency administration in various roles, from staffing to special projects. As a recipient of the 2022 Comal ISD Mentor of the Year, I also know how important it is to invest in our youth, as they are our future.

Folks, I know and have what it takes to run an agency successfully. As a law enforcement officer, I’ve seen what an involved, family-oriented, and collaborative community looks like. On the contrary, I’ve also seen what a city filled with gangs, drugs, and a lack of trust in its law enforcement can do to a community.

It’s no surprise that Comal County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the State of Texas, and because of that, our local law enforcement agencies have seen an influx of gangs, drugs (to include juvenile overdoses), and violent crimes. Comal County has seen a 22% increase in sex-related offenses, a 22% increase in burglaries, and 16 confirmed cases of human trafficking. For many, this is new information due to the lack of transparency by the current Sheriff's administration. The current Sheriff's Administration has pushed its own political agenda, which has created a separation in partnership with other first responder agencies. When elected as Comal County Sheriff, I WILL bring transparency back and get rid of the good-ole-boy system that is currently plaguing the department. I WILL work with and for everyone, no matter their social or economic status. I WILL provide the citizens and the deputies of Comal County with better training, to ensure our neighborhoods are as secure as possible. I WILL work with every community and ensure we target areas that are in need of law enforcement presence and action. I WILL prioritize the safety of our schools and child-care facilities. Most importantly, I WILL work with all first responder agencies in Comal County and surrounding areas to come up with a plan for a faster and highly trained response to calls for service.

As your future Sheriff, I vow not to police your rights but to defend and protect them as we come together as a community to change Comal County for the better. This is why I am running to be your next Comal County Sheriff. To bring back a sense of community, a safe family environment, and protection to all of the citizens of Comal County.
